My top five favorite things about summer:
1: Our back porch
Joe just finished remodeling our screened in back porch, it looks great. We eat out there a lot in the summer, it's shaded and just so nice. You can even sit out there and watch thunderstorms.
2: Symphony on the Prarie.
This is at Conner Prarie in Fishers. Most weekends they have concerts outside overlooking a field. You can sit on the lawn, listen to great music, have a picnic with your family and friends and watch the sunset. Perfect!
3: Bike rides
A new found delight this summer. We can all ride now without training wheels, and we have had so much fun riding trails together.
4: Ice cream
The Bennetts are big ice cream lovers, and we eat a lot of it in the summer. We even get to ride our bike to get some.(riding your bike to get ice cream cancels out all calories of ice cream-Just a little FYI)
5: Time with the kids.
Even though I feel like I am running them around all the time and their bickering gets annoying, having them home to play games and play outside and travel with is the best.

I can't believe schools starts so soon. I am trying to get things done now before we leave. We head to Chicago 2 days after we get home, so I will have very little time to get school supplies and clothes etc. then. I really don't buy them too many school clothes. They were summer clothes for a while and we buy jeans when it gets cool, otherwise they grow out of them too fast.

My anxieties now, are about Joe and the kids at home. I have never been gone this long. Andrew asked today what they are going to eat next week. I have food made, but that doesn't worry me too much. I think of things like" What if Annie's asthma flares up while she is at camp, does Joe know where the medicines are?" I have to have faith that God loves them even more than me and He will take care of them. Joe is a very competent parent and will do fine.
I better go get the suitcases out :)

I hate Math.

I would just like everyone to know how much I DESPISE math. It is so pointless. Who invented it anyways??? We would just be better off with just estimating!!!!! I mean come on, who cares if you add a negative number with a positive number it equals a the sign of the larger number!?!? Or when you multiply a positive and a negative it equals a negative!!?!?!? Geez Louise!! WHO REALLY CARES!!!!!! It takes up to much thinking. And its just downright boring! How in the world could my own flesh and blood, my father, LOVE math!?!?!?! We have totally different tastes in liking. I enjoy texting my friends, and he enjoys doing math problems. I'm glad I didn't get THOSE genes...Aaron did. He is the math nerd! I'm not...thankfully! I think my dad and Aaron have something wrong with them.

Also, if we just HAVE to do math, why cant all the rules be the same?? Why do there have to be different rules for everything??? I mean really, some people aren't gifted with that good of a memory, like yours truly.

Anyways, my point is, who else hates math? Because I DEFINITELY do.
And who actually LIKES it?? Because I DEFINITELY don't.
Just wondering!!

racoon

5. thats right. Since we have started we are now at 5 racoons caught.

The intrigue and fun has worn off.

When Tia informed me this morning that there was another one in the trap my immediate emotion was despair. Actually I wondered how because we didnt even set the trap with any food. Yet one still found its way into our metal rectangle.

arrrgghhh... Im tired of em and outwardly rejoice when I see one "expired" on the roadway anywhere. What a wonderful example I am to my kiddos!

13 Days!!!

Can anyone guess whats happening in 13 days?

Saturday Night Church

we love going to church on Saturday nights. Here are some reasons:

1. We then have all day Sunday to spend together as a family. Whether that be a baseball game, a soccer game or just hanging around the house. It has created "margin" in our life for time with family.

2. We are excited that Amy has found a small group she enjoys on Saturday night.

3. Saturday evening after church is wonderful. We play games or watch a movie together.

4. If the schedule does not allow our attendance on Saturday night we can still go on Sunday mornings. We like that flexibility.

We had grown up in a church where if you were not in church at 9am on Sunday mornings then you really werent worshipping. May God bless those.... but in this stage of our life..... this just fits and feels right.

It may not be right for everyone, but we really have enjoyed it.

completely off topic but... I am not going to my 20 year high school reunion...my brother says I should...
