destiny and cubs

rarely are the words "destiny" and "cubs" used in the same sentence. Usually the words frustrating, futility and failures are used to describe my beloved Cubs.

However... 2008 MIGHT be different...

Zambrano throws the first "no-no" which means no-hitter since '72...

Tia is convinced they will blow it eventually.. especially if they have to rely on Kerry Wood, "Why doesnt he just strike them out?" is what she asks and expects.

Notwithstanding my anger bursts as a kid at their lack of success (yes mom I did use a whiffle ball bat on the t.v. a couple of times...I promise I never broke anything!) I still believe in my cubbies.

GOOOOO CUBBBBBBBIEEEESSSSs......

At one point in my life I would have probably taken on a 2nd mortgage for a world series ticket. Not anymore, I have grown up and have different priorities but a trip to wrigleyville during a World Series game might be in my future. A good compromise.

Be thou my vision

This is my favorite hymn. For some reason, God has blessed me with hearing it a lot lately. I count that as a blessing, I feel like God does that just for me , because He loves me so. He shows me He loves me in lots of little ways too, especially in nature. He doesn't have to, He is the embodiment of love. He does though, because I need to see it, feel it, know it. My saviour loves me, just the way I am.
I hummed this song to the kids when they were babies. It was the only song that would really calm them down. Now, when I hum it when they are restless, they know what I am up too. It is cute, when Ann hears it she says " this is our song Mom". I can live with that.

Be thou My Vision
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me save that thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom, thou my true word
I ever with thee, thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I thy true Son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou my battle shield, sword for the fight
Be thou my dignity, thou my delight
Thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tower
Raise thou me heavenward, O power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise
Thou mine inheritance, now and always
Thou and thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, after victory won
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O ruler of all.

Shameless

If any of you out there are in desperate need of some wrapping paper for ANY occasion, or chocolates, we are the house for you. Four kiddos selling the stuff. I want to know the connection between, wrapping paper and chocolates, why are they in the same catalog? Anyway, Andrew goes to school half day, he is the first one home. You know where this is going. He is my entrepreneurial one, and has already hit the neighborhood and called some of our friends. I have a feeling there will be a war when Aaron gets home. The girls want to sell the minimum to get the prize. My boys on the other hand are sure they can be top seller and win the ipod. I think God instills in them the provider role and that competitive spirit. Let us know if you have a gift wrap emergency in the next 2 weeks!

Is it so wrong for a 38 year old woman to enjoy dancing around the house while cleaning to this kids CD? Sad I know. Disturbing image as well. Sorry.

sports of all sorts (summary)

it was not one of those "golden" weekends...

Westfield's high school football team lost 33 to 21.

Aarons soccer team was winning 3-1 with about 15 minutes to play... then lost 4-3. However, Aaron scored his first goal of the season.

Notre Dame played poorly and barely beat San Diego State.

The Cubs were winning 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth and then Kerry Wood comes in and gives up 3 earned runs so they lose 4-3.

The colts looked horrible in a humiliating defeat to the hated bears.

ahhh well.... next weekend more of the same.

sports of all sorts

Here is our weekend line-up:

Friday night: Aaron, Andrew and myself to local high school football game.

Saturday: Aaron soccer game in west lafayette 1:30. Notre Dame football at 3:30.. go irish!!!!

Sunday: Family to Chicago vs. Cincy Reds baseball game in Cincinatti at 1:15pm. Colts vs. Bears (on tv) Sunday night football.

If Aaron could fit tennis and the girls swimming in during this weekend.. they would.

I love this kind of "busy".... I truly do.

Cookie Dough

Well, I am counting calories. I haven't done that one in a while. I figure, I have done most everything else, why not this one again. Or like Leann says, "Push myself away from the table". Or what my friend Lindsay at work advised "sew my lips shut, for more than one reason". So sweet, that one. Anyway, so I was counting those calories out today and I got to the chocolate chip cookie dough I ate. I was making cookies for my friends the Watts , who will be coming home from China soon. So, here is the dilemma. Does the cookie dough count? I was doing something nice, right? Well a cookie should count, but cookie dough? I know I know it can't count its not in my book, its not really a cookie yet! I'm sticking with that one. I wonder why I don't lose weight?hmmmmm.
